Re my previous conversation in this thread I do not. I failed at some of the earlier levels. Also, never seen ze Frank’s face before this. My ex can have him. Shit I even fucked up at commenting.
Like when you’re working somewhere for 10 years so you feel you can finally let your guard down a bit and start letting people in… and then they fire you.
And people wonder why I have trust issues…
This is why I insist on staying on night shift. Too much exposure to the management team inevitably means I’ll be looking for another place to sell my time.
yes and no. i pick up on a lot thanks to decades of being expected to be a mind reader and a clairvoyant. its honestly painful because a lot of times it doesnt feel like i have a choice but to be hypervigilant, even if im exhausted. it can be pretty useful sometimes, but the problem is i learned this with people who treated me like shit, so theres lots of behaviors that i take with a severely negative implication. when im dealing with someone who isnt trying to manipulate me or hurt me, someone who cares about me, my reading of the implication can be very wrong. this has cost me a lot more than i care to admit over the years. its been really hard trying to let go and trust people to be honest with me, but im making progress.
Exformation by Ze Frank is worth a watch and it’s exactly this experience.
It takes anywhere between bedtime and ten years later for me to realize the implication.
Not at all, as my ex-wife could tell you, or maybe she’d just imply it.
It seems “neurodivergent” people also communicate indirectly. These terms have lost all meaning?
The irony is I have no idea what you mean by this message lol. Who’s communicating indirectly and how? The post seemed pretty straightforward to me
Perhaps it’s just me and mine. I’m afflicted with a desire to communicate immediately and clearly. My sibling teaches writing with a focus on direct communication. But yeah our parents and grandfolks… We don’t talk about the trauma. You don’t want to hear this. I swear it’s not even that interesting
You offered a contradictory experience to what most of us assume is universal. I’d rather hear your take than immediately write you off. If there’s a way you noticed that autism spectrum people communicate indirectly then that would be interesting
No, it isn’t autism, I don’t think, for my mom and myself. Its ADHD, but none of has been diagnosed. I would say for my mom, it’s extreme posttraumatic stress piled into fuck knows with some absurd speed reading ability and what else amounting to “neurodivergence”. She is highly educated and accomplished, but does not communicate hardly at all. Like, she does, but she’s impossible to understand. A lot of it rubbed off on me, but I am not that smart or that crazy.
Oof okay I think I get it. We were kind of talking over you a bit then by assuming you meant autism. No I’ve also known ADHD people who can be pretty normative with at least their social skills. It kind of makes everyone overlook all the trauma and organizational things that they DO struggle with, especially if they’re women.
I apologize. In my family the nice way to say it was always “mental illness”, and we have it by the ton, but I don’t know whether autism played a role. My grandma raised a heap of kids while also very unwell. Could be for me, but again, post traumatic stress. Also I’m not a woman, but my sister is older and has her own story.
No apology needed at all 👍 this just makes me glad I asked for details. I meant your Mom. She sounds by your description of the situation like how people treat ADHD women who are “high functioning”.
Doctors and ai seem to do this quite often. Not well, but quite often.
Yeah I would be a total nightmare.
so the non detailed oriented folks… the turdherd puts themselves and others in boxes as the world burns. ahhhhhtizzzzy my lizzy. My gord what a projection. 🐿️ Oh look my shaddow. 👤
well I thought I was funny 👅
