    Most important quote imo:

After being held in ICE facilities near Boston and in Buffalo, New York, he was flown to a facility in El Paso, Texas, where he is sharing a cell with more than 70 men. Culleton said the detention centre was cold, damp and squalid, and there were fights over insufficient food – “like a concentration camp, absolute hell”, he told the Irish Times

I have a friend who’s lived in the US for 30-odd years. Married, has a business and I believe has a green card. He’s visiting the UK this year and I am seriously wondering if they’ll let him back in when he returns.

I work with people in similar conditions circumstances and they are choosing not to travel out of the country at the moment as they don’t know if they will be able to reenter. That’s bold of you’re friend to assume the can get back in. Personally, I would stay in the UK if that were an option for me but it’s tough when people build a full life somewhere.

There are many valid reasons to have moved to the US decades ago, either running away from poverty like people from Latin America, or simply finding better job opportunities. Unequal exchange in capitalism can lead many people to work for the imperialist powers because their home country is worse economically, often due to them being taken advantage of.

the isreali settlers are doing the same thing to gaza that the settlers of the united states, canada, australia and new zealand did to the native americans; first nations; aboriginals; and maori (respectively) and the down votes on the most liberal of social media platforms are indicative of how all settlers feel about their circumstances today.

i also i suspect that the future isrealis will see themselves the same way that americans, canadaians, austrialians or new zealanders see themselves now; as societal beacons on progressiveness and fairness.

Wrong. Come to Canada! We’d love to have anyone join if they can get in. Heck, work here under a work permit and go home now or when you’re old or when you get tired of snow or high rent or both (Toronto).

We’re gonna need all the smart people we can when America invades.
