I would hope that the bar is higher than a statistically representative random sample of the entire population

That’s from 2018, a lot has happened since then. One would expect most families are trying to keep their children and babies safe, so if Israel were making any effort to avoid the children it shouldn’t be hard to do so. Targeting a food distribution center shows they’re not. Also shows cowardice, rather than attack someplace where they shoot back.

What a strange factoid to choose to highlight.

I wonder if this “war” hasn’t proportionately killed more children than any in history.

Modern history, possibly. In terms of casualties it resembles a genocide more than it resembles a war.

History is brutal, killing kids was just normal behavior for a lot of thy time - babies dashed on rocks was a common motif. If you’re trying to say it’s thy most brutal conflict in history for kids you’re being absurd, it’s not even the most brutal ongoing conflict when you look at clashes between child soldiers.

I do wonder what the average age someone is recruited into hamas is

          Your brain on Hollywood.

          1. Ancient people weren’t any less empathetic than modern people.
          2. Ancient people didn’t have mortars, rockets and bombs and assault rifles.
          3. There were fewer people invoked in ancient conflicts.

ok, just as long as it’s demographically proportional there’s no problem here! After all, this means that the “Hamas terrorist” population is also 56% children

Otherwise it would be pretty obvious proof that Isreal doesn’t care about civillian casualties!

(edit: The reason, then, that children only comprise 44% of deaths is because of their higher armor class from their small size. Much harder to hit).

According to the source that says 44% of those killed are children, children make up 47% of Gaza. https://english.wafa.ps/Pages/Details/143002

Also, if it needs to be said, though I hope it doesn’t, children make up 0% of valid targets.
0% of the 14467 murdered children were murdered in complaisance with the international law governing war.
0% of the 774 wounded but still living children were wounded in complaisance with the international law governing war.
0% of the 1085 children taken as hostages were victimised in complaisance with the international law governing war.
