Love it. Heard about it from HN some years ago and been using it since. The guy who runs it is super friendly and aswers mails quickly too. And yes, it’s super cheap, I’m using the “usage based” pricing or whatever it’s called.
msmtp, I’m using purelymail for all my emails.
Backup everything locally in proxmox on separate storage, another copy to a local nas and a third one to backblazes cloud storage.
No mention of alternatives in the article :(
This is a really nice way to do good pr by actually helping people in need.
That looks amazing, thanks for bringing it to my attention.
Uh-oh electricity flowing through the wrong paths is always a worrying sign.
I refuse to play them. My rule of course excludes titles that actually need it for multiplayer, like MMORPGS.
Being able to host a mirror of an existing instance for load balancing would be cool. It would allow us who have available resources to be able to contribute without the hassle of setting up and moderating an entire instance.
Yes it is, but ofc. the host screen goes blank when you start the VM. I run enerything on one virtualization host as VMs so this is not an issue. Basically I can run one machine that requires the gpu at a time, and of course all the headless ones like servers and the firewall keep running normally in the background.
I’ve been running a setup like this for years without issues. Only the initial setup was a bit cumbersome, specifically getting it to work with just one GPU. Ran two for sometime before I got it working without issues though
I think it depends heavily on how much storage you’re allocating, if you allow uploading media that is. From what I’ve understood most of the bottlenecks are in DB operations so CPU and memory definately play a role.
I think I saw a post about a similar effort yesterday, combining your efforts could be beneficial.
Agreed, my 1080Ti is still all I need.
I use duplicati together with backblazes cloud storage and have been happy so far.
Mine has always been super snappy, so something’s definately off I’d say.
