Grave of the Fireflies is too sad to cry to. It’s just pure despair, slowly killing you emotionally.
Subscriber counts are per-instance, if you open this community on lemmy.ml you’ll see over 3k subscribers. However, you’ll also see some missing or different posts and comments because the federation between instances is pretty wonky at the moment.
All that to say: There are quite a lot of people here already, but there are still some wrinkles to iron out before substantial parts of /r/anime could migrate here. I’d be happy if they eventually did though.
Not anime, but interest-tangential: Japanese Language !japaneselanguage@sopuli.xyz https://sopuli.xyz/c/japaneselanguage
Just found !okbuddybaka@lemmy.antemeridiem.xyz https://lemmy.antemeridiem.xyz/c/okbuddybaka
It’s like animemes, but 100% more baka!
Here’s a short interview clip with the creator that I found interesting: https://nitter.net/Sakamoto_445/status/1667224517469700097
That’s why I believe that the not making sense is part of the idea.
I share the sentiment, but maybe this would be better in /c/animemes@lemmy.ml?
@N3DSdude@lemmy.ml how about linking some related communities in the sidebar?
Could you link the communities you mentioned?
I’ve found !animememes@lemmy.ml https://lemmy.ml/c/animemes
That’s a good idea! I understand the sentiment of leaving a final “fuck you” to Reddit, but at the same time the thought of losing the treasure trove of accumulated knowledge stored there pains me.
I was thinking of something like that too, but probably never would’ve gotten around to implement it myself, so thanks! Could you put your script on Github or something maybe?
Also it would be great if it could copy at least top-level comments by OP, because that’s often used for linking to a source.
That’s how I interpret the post pinned to their front page asking users to go somewhere else: https://lemmy.ml/post/1147770
I don’t think lemmy.ml is accepting new users currently. Choose another instance (server) from the recommended ones at https://join-lemmy.org/instances
It doesn’t really matter much which one, you will still be able to interact with communities across different instances.
One of those shows that just got better and better for me as it went on. The movie (The First Kiss That Never Ends) feels like great payoff for all the development between Kaguya and Shirogane.
On Crunchyroll the movie is available split into 4 episodes, as it was aired on Japanese TV I think, and listed as another “season”. That’s maybe why the other commenter thought that you’ve seen it already if you finished the series.
I wanted to comment that now the cat is out of the bag that Shobon is writing the script for this show, but the next episode preview has me second-guessing myself again. You just never know with this show.
But some foreshadowed details seem to be coming together, with the super drugs Otaku hero and the girls got from the old geezer apparently being a trap and Shobon’s magical girls being something like evil twins of Anarchy, Blue and Pink.
And they also went really meta again with all the talk about death flags.
I wasn’t much of a fan of the first season, but I’m enjoying this one much more. There’s been some clear development in Tsukasa’s and Nasa’s relationship with how they’re being more open with each other. That shows both in how they are sometimes teasing each other and in how they are more comfortable being affectionate.
This was somehow both the lewdest and most wholesome episode so far at the same time!
Nasa biting Tsukasas ear and the noises she made in reaction was almost hentai-level lol.
But Nasa reminiscing on how he and Tsukasa met and Tsukasa explaining why she asked him to marry her was really romantic.
I tried mentioning and linking this community on /r/anime and got my comments deleted because advertising other communities is not allowed there. But after messaging the mods about it, they seem to be aware of the need for an alternative that isn’t Discord and seem to be cooking something up as a contingency for an /r/anime exodus.
Just mentioning Lemmy in general seems to be fine though and has been done several times in the blackout thread.
For the still running season, why not just take the top 10 from the /r/anime ranking. Although I agree it’s hard to draw a hard limit, you need to do it somewhere. And if someone misses their favorite show, they can still post a thread themselves.
I’d wager that next month this community will not be that small anymore, then it could be ramped up.
I was going to just manually make a post for seasonal episodes as I watch them, but if you want to automate it, why not?
Just maybe initially limit it to the more popular shows, otherwise I also think it might overwhelm this still small community.
I have the impression that the federation thing as a whole still has some issues. Like I checked some of my submissions on different instances and it would sometimes show different comment counts, but the comment which would explain the difference was nowhere to be seen. So it wouldn’t surprise me if vote (non-)propagation also doesn’t always work as intended.
Yes, I watched it (the first season at least) and quite liked it. It’s what brought on this post basically. I had decided to watch it when I was looking for my next idol anime after my “gateway drug” Zombieland Saga, and the connection to that via Minami Tanaka, and also that I vaguely remembered Yoshino Aoyama was part of it, were what gave the impulse.
There are also a few Wake Up, Girls! anime movies that I couldn’t watch yet, and a continuation series “Shin Sou”. The drastically altered character designs in the latter unfortunately felt off-putting to me, after the more realistic style of the first season.
