Hello Lemmy,

I’m looking for a long-term Android / browser / PC game, were you manage your stuff and come back a few ours or days later.

I’m thinking of games like:

aspects that I don’t like in the above games are:

  • PvP (especially when you have to come online at a certain point in time in order to not loose sth.) -> ogame, Neptun’s Pride
  • Needing to be online at a certain point in time to make proper progress (stuinverse)
  • being to overwhelming or basically an excel sheet (Prosperous Universe)
  • pay to skip time sucks
  • keep clicking to progress faster is sth. I don’t like as well

It doesn’t need other players or a scifi theme (although I prefer it), but it should be real-time based and long-term with little daily time input.

It should be a management, base building, trading, strategy game.

Perhaps s.o. knows games like this :)

Have you heard of The Longing? It doesn’t tick all your boxes but it is definitely a long term game that has you make slow, real-time progress while the real time clock of 400 days is ticking down. Not really management sim progress though.

On the more managy side, I’ve had some fun with Factory Idle. Essentially mini-Factorio as an idle game.

So basically incremental/idle games with some light strategy or base building mechanics?

Universal Paperclips! It’s an idle game that relies on you making smart planning decisions to optimize things, so there’s a degree of strategy that most of them lack.

I don’t know the games you linked, but all the games from nimblebit and from kairosoft are sim games where you put people to work and you have to wait for them to finish.
I’ve played Tiny Tower, Pocket Planes, disco zoo, and Dungeon Village 2. None of them require an internet connection, some have ads which give you a boost, and some have paid tiers to remove the ads.

I’m a huge fan of Evolve, an idle game played in the browser which only requires a network connection to start up. Saves are text that you can export and load to a file. There’s lots of strategy, all kinds of ways to play, and makes for some funny stories.

Not quite what you’re looking for, but I think you might enjoy Worldbox for a nice and relaxed, long-term game! It’s a fun god game with the twist that the inhabitants of your worlds are alive and doing their own thing, be that farming, building cities and kingdoms, forming empires, or making alliances and waging wars all without your input (although you can meddle in the affairs of the world as much as you wish). It’s free (with a single $7 premium purchase if you love the game and want to support the dev).

God damn I miss Ogame back when it was decent. Even getting fleet crashed because you forget to send them on a mission was exciting. I’ll keep an eye on this thread, that sounds fun.

I don’t have too many good suggestions but mid-to-late game Satisfactory has some of the vibe you might be looking for, especially if you are able to have it run on a dedicated server while you are away.

It’s hella addictive and it might take 8 hours of playing to get to a point the factory can run completely on its own. It can be a bit complicated to get everything run at a good efficiency but it’s pretty much not required unless you a raging perfectionist.

Oh, I never thought about that. That means it keeps producing, while I’m away if I host the server version myself?

Yes exactly. However, until you get coal power going, the factory runs on biofuel which you have to keep getting yourself or else it shuts down after a couple hours. Which is why I say mid to late game fits this best.

Once you do, then you can produce an unlimited amount of stuff as long as you have somewhere to store it (unlike Factorio that has limited resources) and use it to build whatever you think you need. The milestones get progressively more complex :/ but you have the leisure to complete it at whatever pace you like :)

Satisfactory is so good. One of my all-time favorites. I use a dedicated server when I play it, because I’ll play from a few different computers when I do. But resources stop pumping out if nobody is connected to it. Maybe there’s an option or a setting to keep things rolling, but that’s the default behavior – nobody connected the game effectively pauses.

It’s an older game, but I like to revisit pixel people every once in a while. It’s a mobile game with some mtx that you can ignore. It’s like a city builder where you can mix worker classes together to unlock new types of workers and subsequently new types of buildings to add to your city.

If you’re looking for managing idle games I can recommend a few.

My top one that turns it into a character management sim that still has interesting individual mechanics is Legends of Idelon. Available on steam, ios, Android and web browser. I picked it back up a few months ago and came back to each character having about 270 days of time to claim lmao. An unbelievable amount of content and the dev is very active still. Boss fights, secrets, large enemy variations, currently 5 worlds, many free in game events where you can get paid items (time skips, gems, usually a really good amount). Crafting, item gathering, 4 classes with many more advanced upgrades, interesting skills, etc.

If you’re looking for a straight up idle game then I would recommend:

    1. Antimatter dimensions, steam and website are up to date, Android and ios are catching up still. Around 180-360 days to beat probably. Not a “click to go faster” but instead just keeping up with things that will generate your income.
    2. CIFI, devs are active, community is active and welcoming, at least 180 days of content at this time (been playing for 3 months myself, really fun). Second prestige is coming out really soon. Current afk limit is 24 hours, I believe.
    3. Idle Research, smaller game, but some interesting concepts and ideas, still fun but not very long atm.

Have you tried SimCompanies? It’s similar to what you’re looking for. You build a company over the course of months and find a niche in an economy that’s mostly player run.
