On the other hand progressive/social justice people are overwhelming intolerant and allow basically 0 discussion. You’re with them or you’re not. They can’t see they’re part of the problem and I wish they’d just shut the fuck up already and point their hate at the corporations that have grown to big to allow people willing to do the work to grab their fair share. Distracted fighting each other while “crony capitalists” keep running their game. Fucking stupid.
And that is why I think even some of the Left is going to come here to post eventually.

Everyone on the right already quit Reddit a couple years ago and migrated to sites like patriots.win or forums.red.
The only people left on reddit are the extreme left. When they quit reddit en masse, they’re going to create a left circlejerk website. There just aren’t a critical mass of conservatives left on Reddit anymore, because they would have left already.
“Extreme left” is a wild take. In Europe the US’ left is considered center-right.
In terms of economics, I am sure that is the case, but not in terms of social policy.
Occasionally Sweden or the Netherlands will beat us to the punch on some progressive issue nationally… But few people beat California, Washington, or Oregon to the punch when it comes to local social progressivism.

I have posted “racist” content… I am the guy who posted the article questioning the Emmett Till narrative, lol, and I know that you found that upsetting. But I have seen you talk about the real answer being to address racism, to dilute content on instances with racism, etc., and I remember when you posted at wolfballs occasionally (I was a different name there) and I did appreciate all yuor content there…
… I think what got us more into trouble is people were kind of looking to post the most extreme memes and even crosspost to other instances to get a rise out of them and it worked.
There are worse things than a racists joke. Like pedophilia. Supporting mass murders and genocides. It’s like, ban the user and move on. They could literally have banned wiggle hard and zero of his post across all his communities would federate.

The problem is that what I’ve heard is that Lemmy doesn’t have a moderation tool to do that. In principle I dislike defederation because I want to be able to see anything I want, but if they don’t have any less extreme options it’s understandable.
