I’ve been advertising this place as a instance with a good balance of moderation
and open federation . While I’ve have seen clear lies being spread about
exploding heads I figured the lemmy world admins would have the sense to
actually investigate such claims before making rash decisions. I want to know
why it was defederated when the admins of that instance have been good about
removing hate speech. Was any attempt made to contact the admins to talk about
any potential problems?
I have posted “racist” content… I am the guy who posted the article questioning the Emmett Till narrative, lol, and I know that you found that upsetting. But I have seen you talk about the real answer being to address racism, to dilute content on instances with racism, etc., and I remember when you posted at wolfballs occasionally (I was a different name there) and I did appreciate all yuor content there…
… I think what got us more into trouble is people were kind of looking to post the most extreme memes and even crosspost to other instances to get a rise out of them and it worked.
There are worse things than a racists joke. Like pedophilia. Supporting mass murders and genocides. It’s like, ban the user and move on. They could literally have banned wiggle hard and zero of his post across all his communities would federate.

I personally agree but racist content is awful. Can’t fault anyone for defederating because of it.
If this instance behaved itself a lil bit more, we wouldn’t be having these issues.

I could see why they wouldn’t want to play whack-a-mole tho, if they were concerned other users would post similar content
