John Sinclair is a great counterargument.

Not only are westerners no longer aware of what happened to him; but they won’t be able to see how much wasted resources were expended to silence him because the record says that he was arrested for marijuana.

And the western ignorance gets additional layers when you consider that marijuana’s illegalality as part of a push to help silence people like Sinclair by using the legal system – another fact that was also publicly admitted to by it’s perpetrators decades ago, but westerners are still unaware even though it’s responsible for imprisoning or jailing millions of people around them every day.

And the layers get thicker when you consider that it has to be someone like Sinclair solely because of his relationship with John Lennon – his notoriety is more undeniable that the current set of artists in the Western world currently experiencing their own silencing – something that suggests your argument is in bad faith considering your displayed ignorance of them.

Look into the background of his arrest to understand that the American government expended significantly more effort to silence people like Sinclair than the Chinese ever had done to these evangelical nutjobs – combined.
