    afaik the usa is the sole loser if a supply chain disruption occurs in the canal. it affects countries doing trade with the us, but it’s not like chile can’t sell to any other country. or china.

      Surely Europe relies on it too? It’s the connector between the Mediterranean and Red Seas, without it ships have to go around Africa.

        I believe that you’re thinking of the Suez Canal. The Panama Canal allows ship traffic to go from the Atlantic to the Pacific without going around all of South America.

        yeah, but my point is that it isolates the us from the world, not the world from the us. ewwrope could find a new economic partner if they werent us vassal states, the us doesnt have an option but for increased trade costs. it surely affects internatilnal market cos its all conected tho.
