Palworld’s meteoric trajectory has seemingly continued following its smashing 1.0 launch on July 10. Nearly two weeks after launch, on July 19, the game reached 961,867 concurrent players reported by SteamDB, the highest figure since the game’s early access launch in 2024, when it clocked just over 2.1 million concurrent players on SteamDB.

I’m still waiting for that perfect creature catching game, but palworld can definitely tide me over for now, very fun game. Although i recommend not flying unless you absolutely need to.

If you’ve played before, 1.0 is a pretty significant change. If you quit playing shortly after it blew up on 2024, it’s nearly a different game.

Gave it a try for a couple of hours to see what the fuss is about. It’s not bad, like a cross between a survival craft/ pokemon game / animal crossing, but very casual and dad-friendly. Haven’t seen many bugs but there’s some jank here and there. Story bits are pretty meh and I’m not really seeing it have a lot of staying power, but that might just be me not being familiar with pokemon games.

I came back after trying it a bit in early access a year ago. Definitely feels way more fleshed out and I’m really enjoying it so far

I was part of this adoption wave.

During the first hype wave, I felt nervous about their getting the game to a full release.

    It’s a great game!

Examined as pokemon game, I rank Palworld somewhere a bit below Dragon Warrior Monsters II, but well above Pokemon Ruby (which itself is great).

I just started out today myself. It’s a little hard to get into a sandbox game with my kids ruining the vibe, though, so I may need to wait until I have a bit of late night time to build a base properly and whatnot.

I’ve also never been a huge fan of over the shoulder perspective… I wonder if I can go first person somehow…
