It is annoying have to start conversations with several people to figure out that they aren’t in line, they’re just waiting for when it is their turn to get in line.
I try to decide for myself that these small exchanges are part of a sense of community, of seeing each other as safe, and having neutral social interactions.
Forcing myself to have neutral exchanges I think builds a sense of safety, because it extends the area between positive and negative… so I don’t have to avoid everything non-positive for fear of it being negative, you know?
Though sometimes my head is not in a good place and it’s more difficult to find the positives in stuff and be annoyed by annoyances.
(Feel free to put my unwarranted unloading as today’s second slight annoyance if you’d like)
God forbid I have to talk to other people in public.
If it’s not sarcasm: I feel that sentiment. With time, and intention to change my mindset, I’ve come to appreciate these little conversations. Ten years ago I’d rather fall off a cliff than talk about the weather, but now I see the value in it; even though it’s the most boring thing in the world, I enjoy the (surface level) connection.
If it’s sarcasm: Haha yeah right? (stop bullying me :( )
Don’t come to latin america. Here lines are more suggestions than actual lines and people cut in line like crazy. You just get used to it because most people are pretty chill and you just end up chatting in line instead of getting mad (lines are new friend time). You also learn to stand up for yourself or you’re going to get pushed around.
People have started queuing at bars like they’re at an atm as a result of COVID and it’s really fucking annoying when trying to serve.
Most decent bartenders can serve a few people at once dontchaknow
Have you tried yelling “Next!” when you’re ready to serve the next person?
I shout “who’s next?” and when no-one answers I reply with “don’t answer all at once” or some other hilariously witty comment
If people did that to me I would tell them to spread the fuck out.
Or better yet, ask everybody not in the line if they’d like a drink.
You don’t need to find
your place in line
'Cause it’s everywhere…
