Was my GOTY last year, is probably my second-favourite game ever, and is simply the most impressive and fantastic puzzle game ever constructed. Easily worth the full price, even if you “only” reach Room 46. However, the game goes much much deeper than that, and you can keep scratching and scratching and scratching and you will only find more and more under the surface.

Also has an absolute banger of a soundtrack, minimalistic and understated while still being perfectly atmospheric and impactful. That bass clarinet is just wonderful.

Absolutely the best deduction/detective style game I’ve ever played! And yes it seemingly never ends haha, if you really want to get wrapped up in an intriguing mystery you can do no better!

They recently put it in a bundle with Outer Wilds, Tunic, Animal Well, and Fez. I haven’t played Fez, but the other three games are some of my favorites of all time as well

I think as a pure deduction experience, Return Of The Obra Dinn is also up there. But it’s obviously much smaller in scope.

Disco Elysium is a game about a detective, it’s not really a detective game however. There aren’t really any elements of deduction-based gameplay. It’s a playable novel, really.

It’s my number one game of all time (with Blue Prince at #2), but if you want puzzles and deductions and actually finding clues and putting things together yourself in the manner of a detective then Blue Prince or Return of the Obra Dinn is what you want, not Disco Elysium.
