Yeah I see that it alreadys has changed things and prevented things. Without blow back I think things would have been on about the same timeline as hitler and its the reason he has not been able to imposed changes to state voting laws, has had to realease funding to states and get rid of birthright citizenship so far. Heck the whole ice thing is because he could see he could not take total power within a year. Its why the bonus system is over 5 years so that they can claw them back for pretty much all the idiots who buy into it.

The proof to me is its obvious trumps words and actions that he expected to do whatever he wants and his majority party in all branches has not allowed him to achieve that when we are over a year in despite their best unefforts. As much as the complete maga nuts and the administration rage against the protests they help move people who would otherwise be disengaged. It is the reason they are scared as heck now about elections.

There is a lot going on in this country, many other things cause restraints too. Also I have a different view of elections and I don’t think the next year is relevant ( I do expect democrats to win congress).

Trying to isolate the effect of one movement is hard. I were a bad guy, I would actually approve of these monthly marches because they let off steam in a non threatening way

I certainly don’t feel like it lets off steam. Im certainly one of the folks who don’t want to be out there but the administration has created a situation where it has to be. Mainly by not following the constitution. It makes me feel better to see all the people who feel the same and further makes me feel better to see how very small the people willing to show their support is. Of course I am sad that so many still do not come out but there are also neat things like people showing they would be there if they could and likely go to other things. But taking the steam being built up by the blocked up constitution. I don’t see that. No I know comes off a protest saying oh that hit the spot and now they don’t need to anymore. Instead I see them more fired up and seeing that they need to keep on pushing and collaborating and figuring out how they can not obey.

I see the current protests as being the most that can be done now: perhaps there are not any mechanisms to do more at this time.

I think there will be many years of gradual decline of law and order in the federal government, and these are still early days for the decline.

I see movements evolving later that are run by different philosophies and peoples. With some overlap between the participants. But the current protests are not necessary for the later movements.

There already is this. There is a local level and a national and everywhere in between. Groups borrow from each other and find things that just fit their area better. Some folks have the time to go out and others have the money to support the movements. Some have space or other resources that help. It will continue to evolve and depending on which directing things take will dictate were we go. The only thing for certain is either we get back to being a modern social democracy or we end up being at best a more “regional” power like russia or worst north korea.

I think the networking like you described will keep on increasing. And that is good.

I view the protests now as not very leftist but more centrist. There are a lot of protests and so this is more a general trend.

I think some later protests will be less liberal, and more leftist, or communist, without the assumption that things merely need to be restored.

However it’s a very big country and there may not be coordinated movements in different regions ; and there may be movements that are in opposition to each other with radically different ideas.

It’s a long future of this later, and many things could happen including outcomes that are not good for most people living here.

It is not guaranteed the good guys will win , or there will be stability

of course its not guaranteed. Many who protest see two options. A return to rule of law at a minimum but really much more in that so much needs to be fixed with a more people centric and less corporate centric country or death. What was expected of individuals even before this was beyond the pale and I think many realize its time to say fuck it until the common person is given a fair shake. Im not going to live in a country where masked, umarked, paramilitary are patrolling cities one way or another. Heck my biggest motivation at this point is the responsibility of not letting my country be a terror on the world stage and also not leaving behind the other folks living with this shit. Heck especially whats left of the native peoples.
