A deeply Christian, well educated colleague of mine noted that “while it’s sad what is happening, I saw a protest and I think they went too far”. So I asked in which way, as I hadn’t seen anything in the media. She responded that she had heard people say “Allah Akbar”.
I had to explain to her that contrary to popular belief, “Allah Akbar” does not mean “death to the infidels”. She was genuinely surprised.
If the racism fails to do the trick, a lot of people can probably sleep well at night knowing the dead children were Muslims.
I think when you are watching your people (civilians - NOT those who enlisted to be part of this) being killed by the hundreds basically every day, I think even if you said “death to the infidels” you deserve a pass. I can’t imagine losing 3 generations in a day, and have it seen by everyone as acceptable collateral damage to maybe take out the enemy.
This is going to drive Hamas recruitment through the roof and Israel will only have themselves to blame.
