No, what’s Trumpian is literally aligning with Trump to defeat progressive candidates.

"Is This a Pigeon?" meme template with the butterfly covered by OP's screenshot of a reddit post by P-Hustle (Graham Platner) from 2020 where he answers the question "Why did you enlist in the Marine Corps?" with "Wanted to have an adventure and kill some people. Joined up in ‘04, did Fallujah and Ramadi, and managed both. Hell of an excellent experience.". impact outline meme caption "is this a progressive candidate?"

Go look at his policy positions.

Platner is a progressive, which is why Democrats are pretending to give a shit about war and brown people. (Mere months after insisting we all vote for a pro-genocide candidate for president, following two decades of supporting war criminal Democrats.)

“Treats to Americans and also I want to improve the military” - Graham Platner.

Why even bring up the genocide in Gaza when advocating for a mass murderer who wants to boost the military?

The primary is still seven months away.

Platner says some good things, but given his absurd lies about his lack of knowledge about his nazi tattoo, and his vague downplaying of these murder-loving reddit comments as being “a long time ago” (without even actually disavowing anything specific) despite them reaching all the way up to 2021, it’s difficult to believe anything he says.

Since Maine voters do seem to have an appetite for the actually-progressive policy positions he’s endorsed, shouldn’t someone more credibly holding those positions run?

Maybe, but Democrats are running an 80 year-old conservative who’s a-okay with your family starving to fund a billionaire’s yacht instead.

Platner’s problem isn’t the shitposting, as the last 30 years of Democratic politics have shown demonstrably that Dems and their voters don’t care about war, brown people, genocide, or war crimes. His problem is he never expected to run for office and therefore didn’t delete his socials.

              Maybe,

why maybe and not obviously yes?

but Democrats are running an 80 year-old conservative

they’re also running a 41 year old murder enthusiast who is larping as a progressive, and they’re bolstering his credibility by pretending to fear his policies. it’s called hedging.

His problem is he never expected to run for office and therefore didn’t delete his socials.

You think the problem is that he didn’t delete is socials? (He actually did delete them and hoped to get away with it, it’s just that reddit archives exist and someone leaked his username to CNN.)

I think the problem is actually that (in his own words) he “wanted to have an adventure and kill some people. Joined up in ‘04, did Fallujah and Ramadi, and managed both.

You say that, but I find it unbelievable absent the short-term memory of a goldfish or your algorithm feeding you stories about this, because the last Democratic presidential candidate was literally pro-famine in Gaza and happy to use public dollars to give Israel all the WMD’s they wanted in order to bomb Palestinians, and Democrats like yourself insisted that this wasn’t a big deal. The 80 year-old conservative the Dem Establishment IS running is, undoubtedly, on board with war crimes and genocide too.

I’m going to need to see more than a shitpost from Reddit before I’ll pick up a torch and fall in line with a mob of pro-genocide hypocrites against a legitimate progressive.

Anyway, thank you for your opinion. Maybe work on that cognitive dissonance.

Your opinion is immaterial, if you really do care about war or genocide at all.

The Democrats, despite their rhetoric, 100% use their power to support war, genocide, and war crimes worldwide and have done so for a generation.

I, among other people, had no knowledge that the tattoo he got was Nazi related. It just looked like a generic skull with cross and bones tattoo, typical for the military.

It’s the third most recognisable nazi symbol after the swastika and ss runes. Maybe on par with the black sun, but you’ll see it on the uniform of every nazi in any movie.

It’s literally the skull the “Are we the baddies” skit is about

An independent candidate aligning with Trump? Mamdani is the democratic candidate, and is a far better example of a progressive to support than Platner.
