So who did he beat in the primary? Did they just do zero oppo research before letting him run or is he just the only person willing to run?

Whos the republican hes running against and how are they better? If they arent better then why is there all the attacks coming from the left and not the typical anti-prorgressive arguments given by the right?

Would be nice, but id rather a potentially reformed mercenary then a geriatric or a republican. Seems like the DNC just doesnt want to run candidates that can actually win.

At least the guy acknowledged wrongdoing, and if theres still a year to go thats plenty of time to get someone better to run against hkme.

There is a video of him owning up to both the tattoo and the reddit posts being mistakes, so thats pro why people keep claiming it. If the apology is genuine or not is a different question.

Ah yes, saying sorry makes up for wanting to kill people and then actually doing it.

Let all the serial killers who apologize out of death row everyone! They’re definitely reformed too, they apologized after all!

Instead of giving this dude more attention and name recognition lets hear some better alternatives to run against him, or is it more important to complain and virtue signal?

                  COINTELPRO’s any opposition movement

“You’re not allowed to complain if you can’t offer an alternative, stop blaming the democrats for running blackwater mercs who got off on killing people, improvised mortars in high-density urban areas even after the US military banned the practice and have nazi tattoos and compete with the established parties yourself! Also voting third party is a waste and splinters the opposition to Trump…”

Are you saying wanting alternative solutions is part of cointelpro? Im not sure i understand the significance here or what point you are trying to make.

If there are other options available why is that a bad thing to focus on? Or why is it better to be focused on negatives about one person this far out from an election?

last I checked he seemed fine with his role in the US-led full scale invasion of Iraq, has he actually said anything condemning that or about opposing future warmongering?

                Yes,

I will never, ever vote to send Americans into a pointless war. Everything we went through in Iraq can be laid at the feet of those in Washington, like Senator Collins, who knew better but voted “Yes” on a disastrous, deadly war.

But im more concerned with why the conversation is how “bad” and not possibly able to evolve or be forgiven this guy is instead of just finding someone better to step up.

The amount of Astroturfing against the guy a year out from the election is extremely sus.

idk why he would clarify ‘pointless’ I guess he’s fine as long as the wars have a ‘pointed’ pretext, which the Iraq war did have. has he been specific?

The amount of Astroturfing against the guy a year out from the election is extremely sus.

the amount of people advocating to overlook a blackwater mercs Nazi tattoo and war crime employment history is also sus.

astroturfing is when people with no organization keep complaining about candidates pushed by the DNC establishment.
Why dont they just run an opposition candidate instead of complaining about some nazi tattoo you can’t even see smh…

How do these goal posts keep shifting…

Platner’s yearbook superlative at John Bapst Memorial High School in Bangor shows him holding up a sign that said Palestine, Tibet and other regions of the world should be free. He was quoted in the Bangor Daily News as an 18-year-old protesting then-President George W. Bush over his Iraq policies when Bush spoke at the Bangor airport in 2002.

“I started yelling, ‘Don’t attack Iraq. If our best generals tell us not to go to war, why should we,'” he said after being kicked out of the event. “Bush looked right at me and people started yelling for me to shut up, but he saw me.”

He doesnt seem to have been a supporter of the iraq war, not sure if maybe you mean Afganis, but might want to fix that in whatever document you copy and paste replies from. Its still bad but i dont think it would cost them many votes in that part of the country.

If you arent just astroturfing Id love to hear who is currently in the race that you agree with more.

Yeah im not trying to argue, it just seems very inauthentic to me that people care this much about the guy when he hasnt even won a primary yet.

For folks who are pearl clutching over this dude do you live in maine and who is your prefered alternative? Youve got a year to find someone better so get at it!

He hasn’t won the primary. It’s still a year away. The reason the left is attacking (or at least some of us) is because we don’t want a blackwater mercenary on the democratic ticket. The reason the right haven’t attacked him yet is because they’d love for him to be the candidate since he’s so easy to target, after the primaries. I’d imagine all the news corps owned by right wingers already have the real juicy reddit quotes lined up and waiting.

If theres still a primary then i dont really see why this is such a big deal, thats lots of time to get someone better to run. If no one better is available then that says more about systematic problems with the DNC then it does the ex mercenary.

At least hes on the record acknowledging the problems and isnt ancient. The dnc doesnt seem capable of running anyone worth voting for, they can only do “not trump” so we end up with problematic “lesser evils” constantly.

Platner’s popular because of his positions and the fact that he’s a working class laborer, which are more appealing to the poor and middle class, and the fact that the other option is another 80 year-old conservative Democrat with one foot in the grave, and that’s all the Democrats have thrown against Susan Collins and these conservatives “centrists” always lose.

Platner’s their best shot to actually flip the seat, but the Dem establishment doesn’t want that because their corporate donors don’t want that.
