I switched over to Netim after Gandi announced their new prices and removed the free mailboxes. They’re a bit pricey (close to current Gandi pricing) but it comes with a mailbox (1GB) and a 250MB website.

Debian + nginx + docker (compose).
That’s usually enough for me. I have all my docker compose files in their respective containers in the home directory like ~/red-discordbot/docker-compose.yml
.
The only headache I’ve dealt with are permissions because I have to run docker as root and it makes a lot of messy permissions in the home directories. I’ve been trying rootless docker earlier and it’s been great so far.
Honestly, if you’re someone making gaming videos, it’s hard to find an audience in other platforms.
Just wanted to add that you also get two free AMD64 servers (1C/1GB). Been using mine for a year now but I do agree - don’t use it for anything personal or critical. Make backups!
I don’t know if it counts but I’ve been using pandoc for the entirety of my college life so far which includes creating presentations and writing papers. For collaboration with other students, we would usually use Google Docs. It’s pretty much the standard nowadays.
If you don’t know what osu! is, it’s a really popular rhythm game where you click circles to the beat or rhythm of a song.
“lazer” is their new open source client they’ve been developing for several years now.
Are they really charging a 50% price increase on top of the discontinuation of the free mailbox? Looking at the sheet, they’re charging 35 EUR for my domain that normally costs me 20 EUR and only 13 USD on sites like Cloudflare… Am I not reading it right?
Edit: I don’t ever use it on mobile. Desktop via Firefox only.
An Invidious instance or mpv
(with yt-fzf
for example).
Personally, I use yt-fzf
for searching (no thumbnails though) and newsboat
(a cli rss reader) for subscribing to YouTube channels then I can load up videos from there to mpv
. I just press the “o” key on my keyboard when a new video comes out and it plays on mpv
.
These are the only two free ones that I can recommend as someone who has been doing (mostly amateur) editing for years.
Oracle has a tendency to pull the rug and take your VPS away. You can read about it on the forums or on r/oraclecloud. I still have mine but I’ve heard of so many stories about how Oracle will flat out just terminate your instance without warning.
If you want to push through with it, make sure to do regular backups (as everyone should do).
Mass Effect series. Especially ME3 with the DLC’s. I think it was the Citadel DLC that I enjoyed the most. The game was really emotional at times.
A subreddit populated by people who haven’t gotten sunlight in years.
It’s June 12 here (Asia region) and interestingly, the only subs appearing on my feed are some of my favorite “deranged users” subs.
Sorry if the thread has gotten messy but I feel you. I’ve deleted my Facebook account before I entered university but when I started, I had to create a new one because a lot of the online communication (announcements, group activities, etc.) happen there despite having better alternatives.
We are actually forced to use Facebook. Not in a way where there’s a gun pointed at our head but rather societal norms forces us to. By deviating, people like us are called crazy or a nuisance. I don’t mind being called crazy but I do want to get work done.
Arch Linux and Windows 10 dual boot.
Generally, I like Linux because it’s FOSS and I can use i3wm. Arch Linux specifically because the AUR makes installing software really easy. Almost everything I use is available there.
I keep Windows for programs that don’t work under Wine. I haven’t touched this disk for some time because all of my Windows programs work on Wine now.
I’ve been watching videogamedunkey since I was a highschool freshman. I love his humour, style, and his insights in games and other media.
