Originally, there was a pair of flashing lights next to a sign that said “Overheight when flashing” that would light up if the sensor was tripped. Then they replaced it with traffic lights that would stop traffic and flash “OVERHEIGHT MUST TURN” like you see here if the sensor was tripped.
Of course, that caused the dumb truck drivers to just floor it and run the red light.
System76 and other Linux hardware vendors are still selling computers with nvidia GPUs built in. Which is stupid.
But it’s still stupid, especially if it’s about money, since Nvidia wants to sell a lot of chips to the Android market. And with Linux users being dumb enough to keep buying Nvidia products and using their mediocre proprietary drivers, nothing will ever change.
Problem is, most people are going to take one look at join-lemmy and not know what to do. It’s so much easier to point people at lemmy.world or lemmy.ml.
And until very recently, small servers have had a ton of trouble finding communities on the big servers. That seems to be mostly resolved, though I still get community not found errors when I first navigate to a new community, but refreshing takes care of this. New users aren’t going to know what to do with this.
Granted, many (most?) people seem to think these problems are a good thing because it keeps the normies out, but forums are nothing without people.
And you have to be OK with the AirBNB owner staying with you!
I call them “novideo” because the nvidia GPU in a PC someone gave me was the bane of my existence on Linux. I ended up buying a Radeon for it because I got so tired of having no video after security updates. Nvidia seems to hate everybody except Windows for some reason. Even Apple ditched them long before they ditched Intel.
But yet, it seems like the majority of Linux users have nvidia anyway.
I get 5-7 months of snow every year. I cherish every minute of summer!
C’mon, Lemmy Kilmister and Lemmy Koopa aren’t cool enough for you?
For me, it was Kid Pix and Claris Works.
Why wouldn’t you just use the store or winget to install Firefox?
Yes and no. I have an account on a small instance, and trying to find and subscribe to communities is still annoying because I have to retry the search a few times from a browser to get the server to federate, and then it takes a while for posts to show up. The other account I have, on a big instance, can find everything, but I get more errors just trying to browse and vote.

Yup, I had to explain this to so many people when I sold coffee. Nobody believed me at all. I explained that dark roast had more of the caffeine cooked out of it.
Sure, but Reddit is nothing without their mods and power users.
Valid. Spez is a liar who is angry that he got caught multiple times. I didn’t want to see Reddit die like this, but watching the train wreck sure has been interesting.
BuzzFeed and other sites might have to write their own content. So many “articles” I come across are just reposts of Reddit comments.
I am admittedly still active on Twitter, but during the whole Twitter exodus, I decided to give Mastodon a try, and I abandoned it because I just kept running into people complaining about Elon without seeing much else.
Until I read somewhere during this whole Reddit fiasco that you can follow hashtags in addition to people on Mastodon. Total game changer!
I don’t get it either.
