Then use Al Jazeera. But if Trump Media tells me it’s rainy in the Pacific Northwest I’m going to have doubts, and if Iran says Israel’s doing Israel things… I’m going to have doubts.

While there’s nothing about the story that’s hard to believe given Israel’s love for genocide and harming anyone who cares about the humanity of Palestinians, can we get a source that isn’t literally Iran?

Alternate source since I’ve never heard of The Cradle” and have no idea if it is credible or not.
Yeah, this is clickbait. It didn’t “drop”, the pilots carefully and deliberately flew it quickly to a safe altitude. Reputable source: https://avherald.com/h?article=51a4c509&opt=4096
Have you ever wondered what those people might have experienced that would lead them to hate Israel so much?
It’s true they’re at worst 100% efficient, but they’re also typically sized lower than resistive electric heaters in terms of input power. In the US, a residential heat pump likely draws about 4kW, whereas resistive heat strips or baseboard heating could be multiples of that. As an air source heat pump’s output drops on very cold days, a unit rated for e.g. 48000BTU/hr at 47°f might produce only half of that at 5°f/-15c. A “good” unit here would produce perhaps 75%. The way we do HVAC sizing, unless you radically oversized the system for most weather (including air conditioning) you’ll need a backup source of heat on the coldest days.
Code (law specifying how much heating / cooling capacity is required in normal worst-case weather conditions) where I live would require me to use about 2x the normal sizing to achieve pure heat pump heating at the required design temperature (around 5f/-15c). That means at the peak of summer (about 100f/38c) the unit would be operating at less than half of its full cooling capacity.
Apologies for weird units; I live in MAGAland.
Why should the people in the Middle East suffer because of what nazi Germany did?
Yeah I’m going to go out on a limb and say that’s not what got you banned unless you’re in a garbage community with garbage mods. See my other reply here: https://sh.itjust.works/comment/873030
It occurs to me that people might still be removed from a community in which they “speak inclusively” if they’re saying exclusionary things in other places. People may decide they don’t want you in their social circles because of your actions in other circles. A Klan member or radical tankie who treats me nicely still doesn’t get to be my friend.
I’d be super interested in seeing the “normal person” things you’ve said in a gaming community that got you banned.
But many of these instances very much aren’t open to the public in the same sense as e.g. a cake decorating business. Plenty of instances require you to write a story about why you should be allowed to join; they’re more like clubs trying to foster specific environments (many of which boil down to “everyone who is tolerant is welcome”).
Facing the reality that you might not be tolerant is probably uncomfortable, but if you’re happy with vocal modern American conservative politicians, you need to take a long hard look at yourself. Whether or not McCain in 2000 was just “not saying the quiet part out loud” (as opposed to actually tolerant), the modern ones absolutely are saying it out loud. And so of course if you spout things that align closely to a Boebert or MTG or DeSantis, those “everyone tolerant is welcome” clubs won’t welcome you. Same goes for the extreme-authoritarian-left tankies, by the way.
No, a perfectly reasonable consequence of saying things is other people choosing not to hear them, and even not to let you say them in their private spaces. You’re welcome to find private spaces that are uncensored, but nobody else is obligated to listen / federate with those kinds of spaces.
In this case, your action is saying things that are very similar to the kinds of things fascists say when they to try to get a foot in the door. You may be simply unaware, but you should at least be made aware of what the actions were.
I don’t think you’ll face banning or widespread defederation for respectfully sharing opinions that don’t boil down to “trans people shouldn’t exist” or “women exist to carry fetuses to term”.
Why do you think a life created by sexual assault is less valuable than a life created otherwise? Isn’t the resulting life the same?
Thinking this through might help you understand the tradeoffs behind most abortions. Pregnancy is dangerous, childbirth is dangerous, parenting is incredibly difficult.
A child could push a family into poverty and devastate siblings’ futures. How do you evaluate the harm caused by that against the harm caused by being forced to carry a child produced by sexual assault?
That’s fine, but I think you’ll be able to reach/influence more people with intentional source selection.
In this example, if Iran claims the UN said that, I’d still go and confirm it (which I did). If Al Jazeera or Reuters says he said it, I don’t feel the need to double check; I know they won’t flat out lie. Someone lazier than I was here might just remember this story as a “maybe” if they didn’t bother checking the source themselves.
