  • Since you brought it up, I’m unconvinced the introducing crack to black neighborhoods thing is entirely related. Pretty sure the CIA already had their hands full with a couple war(s) to take a huge interest in MLK when he was rallying against racism, it was more until he started speaking out for unions and against unchecked capitalism. During the social justice years they only smeared him with the out-of-context details of his extramarital affair to media outlets (TMZ level bullshit) in order to try to discredit him. Don’t get me wrong, he was a nuisance to them for exposing injustice but as soon as you get in the way of the dynastic wealth of very powerful families though, it’s a whole new ballgame. That’s when the assassination talks probably kicked into high gear.

  • Exactly, and I don’t think Google really gives a shit what you do anyway, they just want to shelp your data to their ad partners. But any free open source software or hardware has value independent of the company that creates it. Degoogled chromium, FOSSized android rom Pixels, YouTube in browser with ublock, it’s not hard to remove Google/Microsoft etc from the equation and get a useful product if there’s one there.

    unnecessary

I hate to have to justify layoffs but it’s at least true that lots of studios are unexpectedly (from a couple years ago) hemorrhaging cash right now. anytime inflation is so high for so long, discretionary spending on entertainment is near the first to get cut from consumers budgets. people aren’t sitting at home like we were in 2021 only buying digital entertainment anymore.

  • Evidently, all of Epic Games’ business had been “heavily funded by Fortnite” in the last six years, and different parts of the company became “disconnected” from their revenue streams.

Wait, so youre really telling me me Epic giving away a ton of free games on EGS every single month and free unreal engine marketplace assets to devs as well as regular epic megagrants was never a financially sustainable move?

Psssh. In other news, salt is salty. 🤭

I honestly believe Tim is not going to f–k this one up though, as a former one he clearly cares about the game dev community and as majority shareholder he isn’t needing to be driven by profits as much as publicly traded Unity head John Riccatello is.

Plus, fortnite is still a goddamn cash printer, just not printing as fast as they expected.
