Do you mean banning WeChat for all Canadian citizens or government employees only?
That it’s only an Internet thing. What about security cameras that are everywhere, facial recognition technology, purchasing with a credit card?
I usually don’t, but I am careful about not posting anything personal online.

Do I need a DNS-based blocker with ProtonVPN? From what I gather, ProtonVPN has its own adblocking DNS servers.
Use the web version over a VPN with ublock origin. Also, don’t use real information. They will still be able to track you though.
If there is no alternative at the moment, this is a good opportunity to build one.
I use the web version with an adblocker and an email alias. It’s not perfect, but at least I remain anonymous.
