Same with PS5, if they allowed to install linux, people would start buying their consoles and *gasps in horror* - use device as they please, which means not buying games from their overpriced store. It actually already happened before with PS3, I recall article that some even used it for making a cluster essentially DIY’ing super computer. I recently bought BC250 (same hardware as in PS5) and unlocked 40CU (by default on this board only 20 available, on PS5 - 38CU) — it’s actually pretty good machine. Alto, idle power consumption quite high (power saving features doesn’t work). The fact that sony just gatekeeps this hardware is insane. And in a year or two, when they release ps6, this one will become a ewaste, even tho with 16gb of ram it still pretty capable machine.
