It is a great video about culture wars and why they really matter a lot. I know it does not mention solarpunk at any point, but he shows clearer then most other ones I have seen, why a cultural shift brought by solarpunk fiction has to be the bases of a next world.
Maybe taking cultural advice from idiots on youtube isn’t the best place to decide what’s important in your life.
Art does matter. Culture wars are a reflection of how the dumbest among us view art. It’s irrelevant and unimportant.
To be clear it is a video about the Enlightment using culture to spread its values across Europe by a guy with a masters degree in history and a specialization in the history of philosophy. This is not “Feminism killed Star Wars” bs, but more of a philosophy documentary.
So for those idiots like me, who are clearly among the dumbest in the world, I would rather spend half an hour on a general summary of such ideas, then read some Kants text. Sorry I see myself out for that bad joke.
Academics write papers and books. I’m not going to spend the time to verify this guys credentials. That’s what peer-review is for and Youtube certainly isn’t a peer review.
Academics produce popular non fiction work all the time. You find documentaries on tv, articles in magazines and newspapers, interviews on radio or podcast and so forth. This is usually about well studied areas, without too much controvery, but also as in this case, when work touches current events. That is much needed as the cutting edge of academic work often requires a minmum level of understanding to be able to comprehent. Unfortunatly that often excludes basicly everybody, since it means years of study of that particular field.
Obviously you do not care, as anybody who can not understand that level is according to you not even worth a though, due to being too dumb. Sad to see such incredible arrogance.
