    Sometimes it might be better to wait on excavation than to do it improperly. This is especially the case in areas that are too politically unstable to have their own research institutions handle it. The artifacts should always be returned to the people who have the strongest connection to it, not taken away by some imperial power. All the shit stolen by Europeans needs to be given back as soon as possible.

    That said, I’m not huge into archaeology in particular. It’s cool, but I’m more interested in other fields.

      Reminds me of they guy who went digging to find Troy, but thought it was deeper than it was. And he might have destroyed any remains of the city in the process of digging it up
