So I just bought a Switch 2 and that means I gotta get into the ecosystem. I used to own a Switch 1 for a short while in 2018 but otherwise I’m not in the Nintendo ecosystem whatsoever.
What I’m looking for is not let’s players but more news/review content or whatever Scott The Woz is doing type stuff. I’ve got a few new ones loaded up like Arlo and Nintendo Life, but when trying to find channels I’ve just found old threads that had channels that are either dormant or deleted.
I’m also looking for just generally skilled people making entertaining content about their favorite game(s). Like what TheKotti is to Hitman.
I appreciate your recommendations and if you have any other tips/tricks or whatever you want to throw my way I’ll take it.
Don’t follow much YT channels but big fan of Switch Up, they do new releases videos, sales videos and reviews.
Previously, when I used to listen to podcasts, I followed:
- The Kit & Krysta Podcast, they used to work at Nintendo of America, then left and started the channel. Didn’t follow their channel, just listened to their podcasts, that used to have news and some other behind the scenes stories of Nintendo or gaming etc.
- Punching Up, the Nintendo podcast of Last Stand Media, mainly followed it cause I used to listen to their PS podcast (Sacred Symbols). This has different cast, and I didn’t follow it for long, but it has been around for over 100 episodes, so shouldn’t be too bad.
I enjoy the videos of Wood Hawker (Beatemups), and he also hosts a Nintendo themed podcast (Nontendo) where he talks a lot about news, opinions on games etc.
Counter opinion, Wood Hawker is a gigantic man baby who throws tantrums when his staff mess up his streams.
Also his mental health problems are a drum he beats on way too much for comfort.
Much prefer Bob Wulff and couldn’t be happier he isn’t on Nontendo anymore.
Also Wood openly defends The completionist who was found stealing from fans in the name of his dead mom.
