Your right they have, but that isn’t the point of the post. The post implies everyone would just go on as normal. But this isn’t the case, it would be very different.
All that doesn’t matter in the end.
The work the workers are doing still needs doing, so everyone can eat, sleep with a roof over them, have healthcare, etc.
Some things may change on papers, ownerships, bank accounts, lots of stuff that doesn’t really matter.
The work still needs done, so the workers will be doing it.

The Indus valley civilization is a good example. It was just as technologically advanced as the roman empire despite not having money or a ruler.
