A game’s quality is not always deterministic of the fanbase or playerbase’s activities.
A competitive game can have solid production quality, great optimization, and plenty of content to get immersed in, but still have players racing to the bottom of the social interaction barrel. Hard to fault the game itself for that.
Yes they are toxic but they are ultimately still good games. That isn’t even personal opinion, just due to the fact that they’ve been extremely popular for a decade proves that.
