Iran has started its attacks against US targets in the Middle East, the Press TV channel reported.

The US Central Command (CENTCOM) confirmed earlier in the day that the US military had started another wave of strikes against targets in Iran after the Islamic Republic’s elite military force, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), fired shots at a vessel in the Strait of Hormuz.

Earlier reports said blasts were heard in the Iranian port cities of Bandar Abbas and Sirik on the country’s southern coast, as well as in Chabahar in the southeast. Also, explosions were reported on the Qeshm island, in the city of Asaluyeh and in several districts of the Bushehr province.

[2026-07-12] Mehr News – Iran Army says target bank updated for all scenarios

Brigadier General Mohammad Akraminia told state television that the U.S. has a long history of broken commitments, from the 2018 JCPOA withdrawal to the latest ceasefire deal violations. He said Washington was trying to impose an unauthorised shipping route through the Strait of Hormuz, contrary to the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding that assigns control of transit arrangements to Iran.

“The armed forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran are obligated to provide the necessary security for passage through the Strait of Hormuz and to apply the arrangements envisioned by Iran under the agreement,” he said. “We are standing behind this with full authority and will firmly defend the rights of the Iranian people as stipulated in the agreement.”

Akraminia said the army never trusted the Americans and had used the ceasefire to boost readiness and combat capability. “The army’s target bank has been updated and has the necessary readiness for all scenarios. The Americans would be better off ending their interventions in the region.”

He said the U.S. should consider its regional allies and not expose them to further insecurity, warning that “whenever they have taken action against Iran, they have received their response, and the same happened last night.” The overnight exchange saw the IRGC close the Strait of Hormuz, U.S. warplanes strike Iran’s southern coast, and Iranian ballistic missiles hit U.S. bases in Jordan and Qatar, and Oman.

The spokesman also praised the mass funeral turnout for the martyred Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei as a display of national unity and soft power, saying the people had turned grief into an epic and demanded vengeance for the martyred leader.

[2026-07-12] @IrnaEnglish@twitter.com: The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) announced that the Strait of Hormuz will remain closed until further notice, and will only reopen once US military involvement in the region ceases. All maritime traffic is hereby prohibited.

Let’s make it abundantly clear how closed the pool is.

[2026-07-12] @IrnaEnglish@twitter.com: IRGC: In response to the latest response to the US-Israeli enemy’s aggression, the command and control center and MQ9 drone hangars at the US Prince Hassan Air Base in Jordan have been destroyed.

[2] The criminal US regime, by imposing its will on the Omani monarchy, attempted Saturday night to test what had already been tested, provoking several vessels in an illegal route south of the Strait of Hormuz, but was stopped by the decisive response of the naval forces.

[3] The child-killing US military, in an attempt to compensate for this failure, launched airstrikes against a number of coastal bases and telecommunications masts along the southern shores. As we had promised, it immediately received a crushing response to its aggression.

[4] The IRGC Aerospace Force targeted US military bases. In the first phase, they struck key military infrastructure and facilities at Jordan’s Prince Hassan Air Base, demolishing the base’s command and control center and the MQ9 drone hangars with several ballistic missiles.

[5] Any continuation of the covenant-breaking US aggression will be met with even severer responses.

The two foreign ministers of Iran and Oman have agreed to continue the technical talks on the navigation in the Strait of Hormuz after their meeting in Muscat Saturday.

Iran and Oman have agreed to continue political and technical talks to ensure safety and freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.

The two foreign ministers met in Muscat “in light of the developments and repercussions arising from recent events”, the Oman News Agency reports.

“The two sides agreed to continue discussions at both the technical and political levels in order to reach the requisite understandings in accordance with international law,” it adds.

Okay, I hope the negotiatiors have fun 🤗 that’s the important part. This was a few hours before strikes began I wonder if they will continue.

      Some background:

[2026-07-11] CBS via TASS – No US officials attending consultations on Iran in Oman

No US negotiators are taking part in consultations on Iran being held in Oman on Saturday, Jennifer Jacobs, a reporter for CBS News, wrote on X, citing a White House official.

Neither US Vice President JD Vance, nor Secretary of State Marco Rubio, or the US leader’s special envoy Steve Witkoff, or Donald Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner has arrived for consultations in Oman, her post reads. “No US technical team,” Jacobs added, explaining that “the Americans will keep up a remote conversation with Omanis and Qataris as negotiations are ongoing.”

On Friday, CBS reported that US President Donald Trump had directed Vance, Rubio and other senior US officials to continue negotiations with Iran. According to the US leader, the United States agreed to continue talks to resolve the conflict at Iran’s request, but the ceasefire is over.

The Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said on Saturday that Iran’s top diplomat Abbas Araghchi held a meeting with his Omani counterpart, Badr Albusaidi, during his trip to Oman. The two foreign ministers discussed mechanisms for ensuring security in the Strait of Hormuz. They paid special attention to establishing “appropriate mechanisms for ensuring safe passage of vessels” through the waterway under Article 5 of the US-Iranian memorandum, according to a statement following the meeting.

Overnight into July 8, the United States resumed massive airstrikes on Iran, accusing the Islamic Republic of violating their previous agreements, in particular, regarding the Strait of Hormuz. In response, Iran struck US bases in Bahrain and Kuwait. The Islamic Republic accused Washington of violating the memorandum on the cessation of hostilities.

[2026-07-12] @IrnaEnglish@twitter.com: Iran’s Army has launched a wave of drone strikes against US installations across the region

[2] These attacks, carried out in retaliation for ongoing US aggression against southern Iranian territory, targeted a Patriot missile system, ammunition storage, and a radar facility at US military positions in Kuwait.

[3] In a separate strike wave, Iranian drones also hit communications and radar infrastructure at US sites in Bahrain.

[4] The Army has warned that the Israeli enemy will bear full responsibility for any regional instability caused by its actions, and that further assaults will provoke even harsher retaliation.

[2026-07-12] TASS – Ministry: UAE air defenses repel missile, drone attack from Iran

Air defenses of the United Arab Emirates are repelling an attack of missiles and drones coming from the direction of Iran, the country’s Defense Ministry said.

“At this point, the UAE’s air defenses are repelling strikes of missiles and drones, launched from the direction of Iran,” the ministry said.

Also, civil defense sirens sounded in Bahrain. Besides, sounds of explosions, presumably caused by air defenses engaging targets, were heard in Qatar’s capital Doha. The news came shortly after Iran’s Press TV channel reported that the Islamic Republic had started its attacks against US targets in the Middle East.

[2026-07-12] TASS – Ministry: civil defense sirens activated in Bahrain, residents told to take shelter

Civil defense sirens have been activated in Bahrain, and residents are advised to take shelter in protected spaces, the country’s Interior Ministry said.

“The siren has been sounded. Citizens and residents are urged to remain calm and head to the nearest safe place,” the ministry said in a statement, posted on the X social network.

The news came shortly after Iran’s Press TV channel reported that the Islamic Republic had started its attacks against US targets in the Middle East.

Remember how TASS works, they just reiterate claims 90% of the time, be they US, Iran, Ukraine, Israel, anybody. So if UAE says they maintained their flawless air defense record, they’ll report it
