Just started watching Dragon Ball Super for the first time, and Goku would 100% do this.
Goku would bring the ring to Mordor on foot, take the whole season, then straight away give it to Sauron. They will fight, Goku would lose, then Sauron would kill Krilin and Goku would defeat Sauron.

To be fair, throughout the dragon ball franchise, they do try and stress that while Goku has morals, he is not a hero - his main goal is just to fight the strongest beings he can find, and win.
If Cell and Frieza weren’t direct threats to his family, Goku would 100% have let them get stronger so he had more sparring partners.
Hell, in one of the series (can’t remember if it was non-cannon GT or not) he straight up trains Uub, Buu’s non-evil reincarnation.
I think that’s the best part about dbz and dbz discussions. Oh, you think that because you assume goku is smart and a hero. He is really good at fighting. He’s the best at it, no one has fought more uphill battles than him. He knows his shit when it comes to fighting. Everything else? Don’t expect anything from that guy
