Israel is home to some of the biggest cyber security companies in existence. They make firewalls, access management systems, Internet routing and anti-ddos equipment, cloud platform services, angent based security services and have a few enormous consulting firms. And that’s just my industry, it’s the same across the board.
Aside from human intelligence and spycraft, their position in cyber security gives them a unique position from which to eavesdrop on communications.

They aggressively market products in the US. They’re at every industry conference I’ve ever been to. They want into the US market because it’s good business, but it also positions them to collect intelligence.
I am wondering why this is in the news cycle now. It’s not like this is a new thing happening. And is usually not discussed in mainstream press.
But sometimes it is, spotlight lasts for a week then not a peep for months or years.
Put another way: the entanglement is so built up, the spying so encompassing, it’s hard to imagine how it became even more the last year.
