the next car i purchase is going to be one of these chinese EV’s; i’m never buying american again.
I’d purchase an Ev if american infrastructure was set up for it, but it’s simply too much of a hurdle
they’re at almost 1k in range now; soon the infrastructure won’t matter so much.
I’m not on tiktok and I still want one
I want one so fucking bad. I understand I have to pay fucking double for one, but are any of them cleared to be on American roads?
I saw a Vinfast on the road in San Diego earlier this year. I had no idea what it was so I googled it. Apparently they’re a Vietnamese car company with a couple dealers in the US, and they have EVs.

I don’t want to drive along side a racist imbecile, but here we are.
I am curious - what kind of comment lead to that kind of response? The original was moderated away.
oh was saying wouldn’t want to drive next to a Chinese car on the road
Stupid, borderline racist joke.
I’d have concerns about spyware mostly, but i would also argue, that other brands wouldn’t be much better.
at this point, I’d be far more concerning about American spyware
Precisely.
I don’t want China spying on me, but at the end of the day, they have exactly zero legal jurisdiction over anything that I do. The data they gather from me may as well be completely useless outside of some statistical tracking.
American companies, however, will spy on me and then gleefully sell that data to insurance agencies, law enforcement, or ICE kidnapping squads, who have the capability to come find me and harm me or my family. And we already know that American cars spy on you and report your movements to a home server, this has been proven more than once.
Right, it’s always worse to have the government that actually have agency over you collecting your personal information.
that’s the excuse they used for banning tiktok
