I saw a Vinfast on the road in San Diego earlier this year. I had no idea what it was so I googled it. Apparently they’re a Vietnamese car company with a couple dealers in the US, and they have EVs.

            Stupid, borderline racist joke.

I’d have concerns about spyware mostly, but i would also argue, that other brands wouldn’t be much better.

                Precisely.

I don’t want China spying on me, but at the end of the day, they have exactly zero legal jurisdiction over anything that I do. The data they gather from me may as well be completely useless outside of some statistical tracking.

American companies, however, will spy on me and then gleefully sell that data to insurance agencies, law enforcement, or ICE kidnapping squads, who have the capability to come find me and harm me or my family. And we already know that American cars spy on you and report your movements to a home server, this has been proven more than once.
