“Free” VPN…we all know what that means.

Not always true. Sometimes things can be free in the hope to get someone to become a customer after using the free version. You also have FOSS which clearly doesn’t see you as the product.
FOSS is an obvious exception. Mozilla, while not evil, has not earned enough of my trust to see this as anything other than more data mining.
Free vpn as in data collection, huh
