It gets my goat that people think it’s a good option. There are plenty of articles explaining some of the many issues with it, but a few are:
- It’s run by anti-LGBTQ+ crypto bros.
- It has ads right out of the box.
- It collected donations towards people who never signed up for them - then held them to ransom in exchange for the kind of information you should never share on the Internet.
- They’re a for-profit advertising company. “Privacy-centric” my elbow.

What a weird comment to downvote. Literally just factual information. Thankfully I saw this before the deletion, so I can still call you out for having the reading comprehension of… well, an average Lemmy user tbh
So obviously I didn’t encourage people to leech. I was literally only talking about the legal aspect of streaming pirated content. I don’t actually know if avoiding seeding keeps you legally safe when torrenting, so I avoided commenting on that
Ooh, yeah, lookit you, you got me. Why do you think I deleted it?
Probably because you realized that you were reading stuff that I didn’t write. I probably wouldn’t have responded, but drive-by downvotes remind me of reddit, and I can’t stand redditors
