If you are part of one of the unlucky minorities, fascists are actively trying to kill you. That’s not something easily forgivable when your life is on the line every single day just for the fact of being the “wrong” type of “different”.

Because if we do, they will come back. They always do. After the Civil War we just let the slave owners and the Confederates go, and they came back with the Klan and Jim Crow. After the civil rights movement we just let the Klan and their politicians go, and they came back with “tough on crime” and “states rights” and now they’re wearing masks and murdering people in the street again.
We can’t do this anymore. When we defeat them again, and we will, we can’t let them regroup. Marx said it himself: “We have no compassion and we ask no compassion from you. When our turn comes, we shall not make excuses for the terror.”
That’s exactly how you get fascist takeovers. You dismiss them as impotent, foolish and misguided, extremist fringes, vocal minorities, etc., until it’s too late. Have you learned absolutely nothing from even just the past two decades in the US??

I think some of the other commenters have made some great points, but I mainly replied anything because your idea that society could function by tolerating the existence of fascists is foolishly optimistic and one doesn’t have to look very far into the past at all to see why.
If not death, then how do you propose ceasing their existence? Plenty of suggested re-education of various sort, which i have agreed with. If thats what you intend, we already agree. Others have suggested forms of incarceration, which i oppose as a prison abolitionist.
This is not Christianity, we don’t forgive and forget. No mercy to fascists.

I didnt say anything about allowing them to steer nations, have guns, or any power over others at all. Just, let them eat, sleep, be healthy.
