This has been a contentious topic, sparking much debate but following the Governance post (feddit.org’s Zionist bar problem: community ban(s) vote), the Fediverse Anarchist Flotilla has decided to fully defedeate from from Feddit.org.
It follows a model of BDS from pro-Zionist/Israeli sources, showing that views such as genocide denial are not welcome in a polite society. This further backs up the FAF’s strong commitment to not supporting pro-Zionism as with its Golden Rule #8
Users had expressed some reservations around losing access to feddit.org communities, some of which have dbzer0 hosted alternatives such as !europe@lemmy.dbzer0.com, !buyfromeu@lemmy.dbzer0.com. Others can be found across the wider fediverse such as !buyeuropean@feddit.uk.
But wait, isn’t it un-Anarchist to not support complete free speech? Not at all my dear friend. Voluntary association is a core Anarchist principle, and as such exercising the freedom to stop associating with others is part of that. If the Feddit.org admin team decides to change their stance of support for Israel, perhaps the community may vote to refederate in the future.

Thanks, I was planning to look into it this evening. I saw a button somewhere. What I’m more worried about is running it, what it entails, rules, what can and cannot do. That’s where I feel I’ll need more help.
I guess I’ll learn by doing.
It’s much easier than it seems to run a community. If you’re unsure of specific rules the basics are don’t do anything that violates instance rules and stay on topic. You can add others you think might be necessary like not posting too much or too often, or keeping specific questions in a Q&A thread. That sort of thing.
You make your own rules (so long as they fit within the instances). What it entails on Lemmy is basically nothing, as very few people ever causes issues needing moderation. You might get a spammer or griefer so you can delete their posts or ban them.
Basically you can set the theme of the community through rules and vibes. The real hard part is content, it takes months of solo posting to get people to start contributing once they see and join an active community.
