I keep seeing posts that I want to view the context of, and am unable to since it got nuked by the moderators. Considering mods are still able to view it, it’d be nice if a regular user could see it as well.
Modlog
Bottom of every page.
How long does the modlog take to federate? I also like to see the removed posts and am often looking at the latest removal being 2-4+ hrs before the post I want to see was removed and the persons name and reason isn’t even there. Some removals seem to just vanish into the void
So, on posts, next to the up-vote arrow, there’s a rainbow-colored pentagon that will take you to that post on its original instance.
I guess for deleted posts you would instead need to go to the community/instance where what you are trying to find was, but the modlog there would definitely be the place to check, IF my original comment is correct, which I haven’t seen confirmed or disproven yet. I have no idea if the modlog federates per-se, beyond the minimum pointers/references necessary for mod-actions to propogate.
Ahhh, that makes sense. I browse ‘all’ after my subscribe and local feeds and never really pay attention to where the post comes from, ty.
I think they meant the actual post, with the comments and all.
Pretty sure that’s in there, even if not all-together in an easy-to-see as-it-originally-was form. Transparency was a big part of the Lemmy schtick/sell during the reddit exodus.
If that’s possible I don’t know how. Clicking removed posts in the modlog just gives me an error.
I imagine it varies by-instance, but that’s all I’ve got, sorry.
EDIT: This is what it looks like for me…

Well, yes, you can see the titles of the posts. But you cannot see the posts themselves, with comments and all, like you’re seeing this post.
Well shit, and doesn’t say what community its removed from either, but honestly, its the titles that are most worthwhile. The removed-comments section does at least specify the user.
