Thailand is one of the biggest sources of arms for drug warlords of the golden triangle, and for the Ethnic Armed Organizations resisting the military junta in Burma. This may have an unintended consequence of harming such efforts and pushing them to seek weapons elsewhere.

Sorry but im not sure I understand your comment. What do drug warlords want from more guns? Dudes are sitting on mountain tops watching farms lol there are no active fighting or engagements going on that warrant thousands of guns.

Most of it is for the massively oversized police and military departments and good old money laundering.

The new Thai PM is shitting the bed already. The country was so close to true democracy and now there’s this guy shaking hands with Putin instead.

For context there was just a major election that was basically stolen as winning party was not allowed to form a government on some bs charges claiming PM Pita Limjaroenrat owned shares in a media company. Then of course the 2nd biggest party which is pro military and status quo had no problems getting a government and they are all floppy dick rich people that throw populist bullshit around and never really accomplish anything.

Fortunately, thais not falling for that shit and just need to hold out 4 more years.
