Preferably a progressive or at least moderately progressive one that supports LGBTQ. I plan to take Testosterone as a trans man so hopefully a country that approves of and accepts that. Maybe a big city or village where people are generally very accepting with tons of LGBTQ places.
Languages I want to learn: Polish, Russian, Swedish, Dutch, and German
Countries I have some knowledge in: Portuguese, Spanish
I can learn German and Spanish in school, Dutch and Portuguese on Busuu, and Swedish elsewhere as those are the main languages I’m focusing on.
Very culturally rich too with a lot of people curious about English but learning another language is always great!
@may_be@thelemmy.club, !asklemmy@lemmy.ml isn’t the Larry/Scotty advice community. It’s a clone of r/AskReddit.
where should i put this instead?
I think you’d thrive in many of the multicultural European capitals, or smaller progressive cities. From personal experience I can recommend Germany (Berlin, Hamburg), the Netherlands (Amsterdam, Utrecht, Groningen), and Austria (Vienna)
Depending on the place, housing can be tight and be aware of an increasingly vocal anti-immigrant, anti-trans minority. But they don’t speak for us!
Thailand is incredibly welcoming and my favorite place on earth. You’ll have no issues with your transition here though you need to make real money abroad or have good set of skills (like certified teaching) to get local employment.
My default suggestion is Uruguay, though I have never lived there myself.
I don’t know how difficult the right-wingers have made it to move here in recent years, but Sweden has pretty great trans healthcare. The wait times can be annoying, but are lightning fast compared to the shit I hear from the UK and US, and everything is paid for collectively. It should go especially smoothly if you’re coming in with a diagnosis and prescriptions already from home.
Nearly everyone is capable of speaking English to accommodate the array of international people here, and there are dedicated courses for foreigners to learn Swedish from beginner level through high school. These courses are paid for collectively and can even earn you money through the CSN program which helps alleviate financial burdens while studying.
It’s kind of nuts how generally trans-positive the public is. When I went to get my ID with my new name the cop who handed it to me was really excited and happy for me. It’s not something I was expecting based on the general transphobia of the world.
I know you asked where to move, but I confidently can say stay away as far as possible from MENA region until we achieve the revolution.
Berlin
Berlin is such a melting pot. “Whatever, just wash your hands and recycle that trash properly.”
Mülltrennung (waste separation) is a big deal in Germany.
Thailand ? Tricky getting a visa though unless you lie or are over 50.
Thailand visa is very easy. You can get elite visa which is like 12k usd for 5 years.
