We’re finally benchmarking GPU performance in Linux, first using the Bazzite OS following thousands of community requests specifically for this operating system.

Did you not look at the results when the user has a Nvidia GPU? Or when ray tracing is enabled? if you can even enable it on the Linux version, of course. Or when res goes above 1080p up to 4K?

    Edit:

Sorry this isn’t the article I thought it was, which compared the Linux performance to the Windows performance. My bad. In that one by (iirc) these guys, it’s clear that Windows gives far superior results when using Nvidia gpus, and at worst is basically equal with Linux. I’ll try find that link.

Edit 2: wasn’t gamers nexus, but was very controlled and well done and actually tested multiple Linux gaming-oriented OS’s. Enjoy.

95%+ of you would be leaving massive, massive performance on the table by using Linux

Pulling numbers out of thin air.

Also, I’m not seeing the “massive” here. But I’m not someone who sweats about framerates as long as they’re stable and above 60fps. I have always been a mid-spec player.

Those Nvidia numbers aren’t great, but in general, fuck Nvidia. They are getting better about their drivers, and the performance on Linux will continue to get better.

But me, I’m happy gaming on Linux, and so are lots of folks.

Pulling numbers out of thin air

No, 95% is Nvidia market share.

20%+ difference is massive. 10% is massive to many pc players.

and so are lots of people

Just a drop in the ocean compared to the number of people who are happy gaming on windows, and these differences are making sure that Linux isn’t gaining any significant ground. Nvidia may as well be the only player in the GPU market, and with how poorly their gpus work on Linux, it’s a huge problem for Linux.
