Apple and Google are to blame. Don’t blame the unaware for the sins of the unethical.

Plus, don’t blame me, I hide my SSID and it ends in the magic _nomap that prevents this stupid shit. So wardriving is not exactly a major problem for the informed.

As if hiding your SSID does anything beyond making you stick out as having something to hide, or that wardrivers would respect the suffix to your SSID

The _nomap suffix prevents Apple devices from automatically mapping a WiFi connection.

Did ya even read the article?

Yeah, I did. Did ya consider there’s more than just Apple who are collecting this data?

PS: each company has a different suffix, so you’re going to need to add a few more suffixes for them to even consider voluntarily not collecting that data.

What a great point you make: know your threat model, know your environment, act accordingly.

Hiding your SSID will prevent _nomap from being seen, and your BSSID is still transmitted so it’s still used for mapping. You just gamed yourself
