For what the system offers, its unlikely to be this expensive. Valve also stated the price will be on the “low end of self build PCs”. That’s a bit vague, but it does not imply 1000 Dollar. Given with what Valve achieved with the Steam Deck, and that they know how important the price is, it will be cheaper for sure. Some analysts also tried to estimate the price for each part of the system and they landed on something like 415 Dollar. Sure, that’s not all to it, but its far away from 1000.

I’m not an analyst. My price expectation is at $549 for 512gb model and $699 for 2tb. If I am off, it won’t be more than ±100 Dollar difference.
