I’ve asked several people if their brain is ever quiet and all have said yes. My brain has never has never been quiet unless I was blackout drunk or something similar
That’s self-reporting, which is notoriously unreliable. It’s not that people are lying - they just don’t know. Most people are thinking without realizing they’re thinking. They couldn’t stop their thoughts for ten seconds even if their life depended on it. It becomes painfully obvious once you start meditating - actually paying attention to what the brain and body are doing moment to moment.
I don’t think I expressed myself well in my initial comment. I’m saying that I have a stream of consciousness that never shuts the fuck up. If you’re telling me that all humans have that same issue and aren’t able to tell, I’m going to have to strongly disagree.
Yes, that’s exactly what I’m saying - but at the same time, I recognize that I only have access to my own stream of consciousness. I couldn’t possibly know for certain what someone else’s subjective experience is like - and neither can you.
They didn’t deny people’s brains produce thoughts all the time. The point is being painfully aware of them, having so many/with such intensity you don’t recall any “quiet” moments. Each person’s subjective experience is the point.
Other people can experience more calm and silence, and it’s accurate as their personal experience. The fact they can’t tell that they have a constant stream of consciousness going on is the point.
I’ve been perfectly respectful this whole time. Insulting me personally and calling me a bullshitter just because you disagree is completely uncalled for. There’s enough mean people on social media already - I wish you wouldn’t contribute to that.
You haven’t been, though, and I wish people wouldn’t hide behind “nice” words and "didn’t mean to"s like a fuckin’ Karen, but that’s the world we live in, eh? Now, go on and do some thinking. Get right or GTFO, friend. 😘
Nobody can. Thoughts occuring isn’t ADHD thing - it’s a human thing. Even Buddha had thoughts.
