I open and close ports. I don’t leave them open all the time but when I leave for a vacation I open them. I do have a ssh port open but it’s set to only allow key auth and not passwords. Also I don’t run it on the default port.
I saw to many telegram channels of people’s ip camera’s. For a while before telegram banned them you could just look at people walking around their little California mansions naked.
I remember finding a site about a decade or so ago that would open a random unsecured camera feed when you loaded the page. You could see everything from empty living rooms to children’s bedrooms. Ever since, I have removed or covered the cameras on every device I own. Just the thought of having my privacy invaded like that and not even knowing about it bothers me too much.
I have a raspberry pi camera running but it’s behind two layers of authentication so should be fine.
I wouldn’t trust it. Maybe I am just more paranoid than a normal person though. If there is a way to get in, I assume someone will eventually.
