Hello,
I’ve been using Reddit for several years, most of which through RIF. On my desktop, I used to use old.reddit, but with how things are going, I doubt it’ll survive much longer. They might just ride out the current storm before they go that far. However, I spend a significant portion of my time on the internet on my phone, so I’m looking for a simple, easy to use app that’s similar to what I’m used to.
Android btw.
- Jerboa is developed by Lemmy’s devs. It’s fairly decent, though it needs some polish in the search functionality. - In most functionality, not just the search. - It’s okay, I’m using it now, but it definitely feels like a beta app. - If you go to their github page (pull request) you can see what they are currently working - aton:

- Was looking into the same. Currently trying Jerboa for Lemmy. First steps on Lemmy so no opinion yet.
- Not at the moment that I am aware… There are apps but they are not as good as RIF. Hopefully the 3rd party reddit apps will be ported. - Yeah a LemmyIsFun would be awesome :) - Wouldnt count on it from the dev of that app as he is working on a tildes app right now. Someone showed it in the redditisfun subreddit. He apparently was taking donations on their forum. A shame to be honest. I dont like Tildes as platform. I dont want a reddit clone that can have the same problems as Reddit has now. - Yeah I’m just warming up to the idea of the whole fediverse thing. I think it’s an awesome idea, just a little confusing for a newbie like me :) I’ll stick with this for sure. - The Reddit Sync developer is looking at developing a Lemmy app. I really hope he follows through as Sync is fantastic. - At the moment I am using Jerboa and it is fine for the time being.

- Jerboa!
- I’m using the PWA. - As I understand this community is better suited for open-ended questions, this post might fit better in !lemmy_support@lemmy.ml
- for iOS Mlem is similar to Apollo. Link should be on the official Lemmy page - I wouldn’t say mlem is similar to Apollo. At least not yet. It’s in a very early state and is missing a lot of essential features. You can basically read threads and that’s about it. Posting and replying is super rudimentary, you can’t see your own profile and notifications are just a placeholder. - I’m sure it will be great in a few months but right now, the web version is your best choice on iOS. - That was my takeaway as well
- There are notifications in Mlem? - The last version added a “Messages” tab but so far it doesn’t have any content.

- Give it some time. The devs are currently working things out.
- I think it has the most important features already in it, but what mainly bothers me is the fact that is crashes a lot and that you can’t search for new communities.

- Quite literally, the developer for RIF is working on a Tildes app, part of the Fediverse. Tildes is invite only for now, however - that might change down the line.
- The mobile website for Lemmy is pretty good, at least for my instance.
