The translations are done on your device, so it works offline while respecting your privacy

They send the text to translate to a piece of software that resides in your computer instead of sending it to, for example, Google’s online translation services.

Not really an answer though. Is it an in house engine? Or a tool made by another company?

Thank you, I’ll have a look at this. I’m very impressed!

I just tried it out myself, and it’s already pretty good, gotta say. Some words or some grammar here and there can be a little weird sometimes, but overall perfectly useful, and it can only get better

I agree, in the meantime I updated my browser and it worked impressively well for a new feature. I find it fast. Glad to have this implemented offline too. Nice addition to my favorite browser! 👍

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Linux is a family of open source Unix-like operating systems based on the Linux kernel, an operating system kernel first released on September 17, 1991 by Linus Torvalds. Linux is typically packaged in a Linux distribution (or distro for short).

Distributions include the Linux kernel and supporting system software and libraries, many of which are provided by the GNU Project. Many Linux distributions use the word “Linux” in their name, but the Free Software Foundation uses the name GNU/Linux to emphasize the importance of GNU software, causing some controversy.
