Yemen’s Armed Forces have hit the Ben Gurion Airport near Tel Aviv after several attempts by the Israeli military to intercept it failed.
The missile bypassed four layers of air defense and landed in the heart of Ben Gurion Airport on Sunday, with both Arrow and THAAD systems failing to intercept the advanced missile.
Israeli daily Yedioth Aharonot, citing emergency services, said at least seven people were injured in the attack.
Israeli media published footage from the moment when a ballistic missile launched from Yemen made a “direct impact” in the main airport.

The attack was done by the “yemeni armed forces” which is the official military of yemen.
However, yemen has been in a civil war since 2014, with command of the military split between the government and the hoithi rebels.
The spokesperson who took credit for the attack in the article, yahya saree is described by wikipedia as being part of the houthi faction.
This seems to be much less of an official yemeni military action than the text of the article might lead you to believe.
The majority of the Yemeni population is under the Houthi government. Aside from relations with other countries, they are pretty much the de facto current government of Yemen.
Describing the Houthis as illegitimate rebels now is akin to describing John Hancock and James Madison as illegitimate rebels in 1780.

There are hundreds, if not thousands, of people who have nothing to do with the war that could have been killed in this attack. I work in aviation, for an airline that has regular flights to Tel Aviv, and it terrifies me that I, or someone close to me could’ve been there.

It is possible for all of the following to be simultaneously true:
- The Israeli War Cabinet are war criminals and terrible people for slaughtering civilians in Palestine and Lebanon.
- The Houthis are war criminals and terrible people for targeting civilians in Israel.
- The US Trump Administration are war criminals and terrible people for killing civilians in Houthi-controlled areas.
- Hamas are war criminals and terrible people for targeting civilians.
While all of the above crimes are of roughly the same type (albeit for different reasons), they do differ in extent - the Israeli War Cabinet is responsible for the most suffering by a wide margin.
I think it is a morally consistent position to condemn all of the war crimes above, although perhaps to prioritise efforts condemning the bigger ones.

In that context it’s really hard to feel that an attack against mixed use infrastructure with potential civilian casualties is a terrorist attack or a war crime.

Israel has clearly established airports as acceptable targets when they bombed the Sanaa airport when the chief of the WHO was there. This is a proportional response.

Israel or the USA will likely respond in kind now and attack the airport in Sana’a again soon.

Edit: I want to back my stance up here with an example of what I did about 3 years ago. I used to work for a small NGO and when I accidentally saw some budgeting spreadsheets and saw how much of our funding went to our board members Vs actually buying drugs and paying surveyors and community drug distributors, I quit in disgust. I took a huge pay cut from that. Like 50% of my salary just gone.
