That’s true, we also have the unfortunate situation that we don’t have any relatives that could support us. All grand parents live at least ~5 hours away. Moving isn’t really an option for my wife because of her work currently.
Really sucks…

The weird thing about this is, a few of these things are rather hard once you have kids. Don’t know the last time when I slept alone in my bed or had a slow morning. But well, you get other things in return, like the pure love of you children so it’s fine haha.
Might be a good idea. I hope I find one in my area. Thrift stores aren’t that common here.
I already fail at investing the time to level the bad and such stuff. I really would love to use it. But next to work, trying to bootstrap and family time there is not really time left.
I always wanted to print stuff for build small robot parts for Arduino and raspberry pi. Maybe one day when the kids are older…
I thought about that a few times, but my wife doesn’t want another wok that’s taking space. So would need to fine a new home for old one, which doesn’t seem to easy.
I kinda regret buying my 3d printer. Not because it sucks, it’s more because it reminds me I don’t have any free time to do something this time consuming.
Another one is the cast iron wok. I love my cast iron pans, but the wok is just to damn heavy and it you can’t really use it like one would use a normal lightweight wok.
Yes, we own such water vacuum. Those have a water filter instead of air. It’s pretty effective t9 clean the air as well since everything is kept in the water. But using it is a pain in the ass. You need to fill it with fresh water, empty it after use and clean it. Otherwise it smells like a pond with dead fish after a heatwave…
Have you considered buying a used thin client / mini PC?
Since the Orange Pi 5 sounded interesting, I checked it out and it’s rather expensive. Well at least for me.
I found it from 180 to 200 Euro for the 8GB version. An used thin client or mini PC can be bought for half the price and most of the time it comes with 256gb storage included.
The extra cost for energy should be less than what you might be paying extra for the Orange Pi plus storage.
Ah that looks awesome. Definitely gonna try that out. Thanks for sharing
Yeah it’s crazy, I live in a more rural area around Hamburg but have to commute to Hamburg from time to time. It’s always weird, as soon I enter the city the 4 / 5G just becomes super slow…
God, and I pay 45€ for 250 Mbit down and 50 up… Germany is so expensive in this regard. Could get 1Gb down and I think 250 up but that would cost like 90€…
Well, long before that the device would stop working. More important would be improved repairability. My current phone is in year 4 and the hardware is starting to die. But I can’t replace the battery or other parts that start breaking. 20 year software support means nothing without that hardware lasting that long.
In that regard I think 7 years is already plenty. If they pair that with easy to replace batteries and screens that would go a long way.
