Gotta ticket them for driving on the wrong side of the road…

I’m still pretty bad at navigating social situations, so bear that in mind, but I’ve found that there’s a difference between volunteering preferences vs being asked. If a group of people are chatting about all the things that they are doing with AI, then me saying something like “yeah, but AI sucks and it’s worthless, it’s unethical and hallucinates most of the time,” isn’t going to be well received. However, perhaps they’d ask how I’m using AI or such. I could mention that I don’t use AI anymore. Then if they ask me why not, then they’ve requested my honest opinion, and they need to be prepared to hear it. If they push back, then it’s like hey, you asked, did you only want me to tell you what you wanted to hear?
I’ll also say that people that dominate conversations and insult others that don’t agree with them drive me away very quickly, because that’s abusive or bullying behavior, even if they do it with a smile or joke. Other people seem to like that kind of behavior though, because they’re almost always popular for some reason.

Jokes aside, Pete Drake’s wonderful pedal steel on George Harrison’s All Things Must Pass has helped me enjoy a bit of country music.

Which is now paywalled.

It still counts. Just because someone else has a complete lack of any moral center or humanity doesn’t mean that we should cast ours aside too and join them.

Celebrating the death of another is bad actually, yes. And it does make you a bad person. You don’t have to mourn the dead if they’re scum. Speak ill of them all you want. But to celebrate another’s death takes it a step further. It means you’re severely lacking in humanity, in empathy. You’ve left civility completely behind. It lowers you to the same level of those you despise, and perhaps even lower. Are you a person that only has hate and bitterness in your heart? Change that so you can actually enjoy the better and brighter future that you hope for.
Warning: this works reliably until you’re about 45. Then it doesn’t quite finish the job anymore.

Where would the urinals go?
They call me Doctor Worm. Good morning, how are you? I’m Doctor Worm.

Only fedia.io members can view that link, right? Since the post and comment numbers are different than they’d be on lemmy.world, so there’s no way to decode the URL? Or is there some website that can convert it back to a lemmy.world link?

And if you do put in the planning, resources, sacrifice and work and earn money, the unmotivated (and jealous) people around you claim you’re “lucky”.
What did it originally say?
Can’t think of anything!

You’re the only person that said that. Quit gatekeeping.

Right, I was disagreeing with them on those points.

Intentionally misgendering is offensive, but that’s not what happened here, in my opinion. There’s nothing in their profile so sure going neutral with they/them is probably a safer option, but defaulting to male pronouns (which traditionally are all encompassing) is also fine, IMO. If they had a preference that they cared about then they would specify it.

With any conspiracy theory I ask myself “Would I be able to do anything about it even if it were true?”. So far the answer has always been “No”. Therefore, I feel it’s pointless for me to let myself get upset or waste time and emotional energy on them when I could instead be doing something else.
I paid the fee for a dev account near the beginning of Android. Haven’t had any apps published in over a decade, but from what I understand my account is grandfathered in so I don’t have to jump through as many hoops to get something published if I chose to, compared to newer accounts. Anyhow, since I have an account I suppose I’m unaffected by this decision. Still, it goes against the original spirit of Android as a free and developer-centric platform and I condemn it.
