Now, now, I’m sure there’s a kernel of truth in there!
Labeling anything a disorder only means that whatever behavior is causing you distress and harm in a meaningful way.
On the other hand, recognizing that certain tendencies can be detrimental to both yourself and those around you can be key to actually getting help changing or managing them.
I do agree that we should be careful with how we label it, though. There is a difference between “this is hurting you” and “something’s wrong with you”.
You need C++ for computer science, though!
It is the PLU code used for bananas in grocery stores. The PLU code is the code the cashier punches in before weighing the produce to get the correct price.
Sure, I might have worded myself a bit clumsily. I meant using them in a conversational way. They’re trying to say “less than 500 steps,” which is very different from “500 is larger than steps per day” in tone.
My point was just that in normal speech and writing you would say “less than 500”, which would be written “< 500” if you insisted on using the mathematical sign.
That’s not how that works, though… It is 100 % what they meant, but not at all how you use greater than/less than signs in text.
Is it just me or does neither the prompt nor the image description actually describe this image? The human figure is far away from the pedestal and not kneeling, there is no cave entrance, the cave does not look circular, the wolf is neither a wolf (apart from the head) nor above, there are no beetle shells, this does not look like an oil painting…
I love how the book says that no one has observed electricity, yet it has a picture of a lightning bolt on the cover 🤦
Damn… yeah those samples suggest ~6–8mg of plastic per gram of sample tissue in the brains from 2024 😟 That would be like 10 grams in an entire adult brain if the distribution is even.
“Thankfully” it looks like the brain has the highest concentration of all studied organs 🙃
!academiagonewild@lemmy.world would probably dig this.
All of those images are AI generated. I would love for this to be real, but it is just a joke.
The original post (not shown in the screenshot) is from PBS, that’s why it says “Author” by their name. If it was in English (likely) it makes sense to answer in English as well.
Had? I bet you they still have people pushing the doors all the time.
I remember seeing one of those! Wasn’t brought to our school, though (I went to school in the middle of the city), we went to a farm.
Why not both?
As per usual, Apple heavily prefers its own hardware and software. Using the TV app on my Mac the image quality of Apple TV+ blows all the other streaming services out of the water, but in the browser it’s a blurry, buffering mess 🤷♂️
The description of the bird starts out by saying that it’s very trusting, and will often perch on passers-by. Checks out, I guess!
